Itinerary

Upon arrival at Mfuwe Airport, you will be met by a local representative and transferred to Kafunta River Lodge, located on the scenic banks of the Luangwa River flood plain. This beautiful lodge offers a perfect introduction to the Zambian wilderness. Depending on your arrival time, you may head out for your first afternoon game drive in South Luangwa National Park, where elephants, giraffes, and leopards roam freely. As evening falls, return to the lodge for a warm welcome dinner and the soothing sounds of the African night.

Wake up early to the calls of the wild and set off on a thrilling morning game drive through one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich parks. South Luangwa is famous for its high concentration of leopards and diverse animal life, including lions, zebras, and hippos. In the afternoon, venture out again for more wildlife encounters or choose to experience the park’s legendary walking safari, guided by expert trackers who reveal the secrets of the bush. End the day with a sundowner on the lodge’s panoramic deck, watching as herds of elephants gather by the river.

Spend another exciting day exploring the Mfuwe area of South Luangwa, known for its variety of landscapes from open plains to riverine forests. Each safari offers something new — perhaps a pride of lions on the hunt or a herd of buffalo crossing the river. Between game drives, unwind at the lodge’s infinity pool or enjoy views of wildlife gathering at the nearby waterhole. The day ends with dinner under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the bush.

After breakfast, transfer back to Mfuwe Airport for your short flight to Royal Airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll be driven to Chongwe River Camp, a luxury tented lodge nestled where the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers meet. The camp’s setting offers spectacular views of the river and surrounding wilderness. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy lunch before joining your first afternoon game drive, where elephants, antelopes, and birds fill the landscape. As night falls, relax by the campfire and enjoy the peaceful rhythm of the Zambezi.

Today promises an incredible day of adventure and discovery in one of Africa’s most beautiful national parks. Framed by the Zambezi River to the south and a rugged mountain escarpment to the north, Lower Zambezi is teeming with wildlife. Set out on a 4×4 game drive to spot elephants, lions, leopards, and herds of buffalo. Later, drift down the Zambezi River on a canoe safari — a truly iconic experience that offers a different perspective of the park as you glide silently past hippos and crocodiles.

Continue your exploration of this unspoiled wilderness with a variety of activities. Early morning game drives reveal the park coming to life with animal activity, while guided walking safaris allow you to learn about smaller creatures and plant life often missed from vehicles. In the afternoon, enjoy a peaceful boat cruise on the river, watching elephants wade through the water as the sun sets in a blaze of gold and orange. End the day with a candlelit dinner overlooking the river.

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive before your transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Livingstone, gateway to the spectacular Victoria Falls. On arrival, check into Waterberry Lodge, a tranquil riverside retreat set along the Zambezi River. In the afternoon, visit Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park to see the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, known locally as “The Smoke That Thunders.” Later, unwind with a sunset river cruise, watching the sun dip below the horizon as hippos grunt and birds return to roost.

Spend the day at leisure enjoying the area’s many attractions. You may choose to take a guided tour of the Falls, explore local markets, or simply relax at the lodge. Optional activities include helicopter flights over the Falls, white-water rafting on the Zambezi, or a cultural village visit. In the evening, relax with a drink by the pool or enjoy a peaceful riverside dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast, there’s time to relax before your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. As your plane ascends, you may catch a final aerial glimpse of Victoria Falls, a breathtaking farewell to your Zambian adventure — a land of wild beauty, thrilling safaris, and unforgettable memories.
