When/Date
Itinerary
Arrive at Keflavik International Airport and meet your driver for a transfer to Reykjavik, Iceland’s lively yet laid-back capital. After checking in at your 4-star Fosshotel, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, perhaps taking an evening stroll along the colourful harbour or exploring the city’s cosy cafés and boutiques.
Begin your adventure with a thrilling visit to the world-famous LAVA Show, where molten lava heated to 1,100°C is poured onto ice to recreate a volcanic eruption—an extraordinary opportunity to see, hear and feel the raw power of Icelandic geology. Continue along the south coast to the striking black-sand beach of Reynisfjara, framed by dramatic basalt columns and crashing Atlantic waves, and pause at the delicate twin cascades of Systrafoss. Travel onward to Hnappavellir, at the foot of sheer cliffs once forming Iceland’s coastline, and settle in for two nights at the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, with an evening dedicated to guided Northern Lights viewing if conditions permit.
Today explore the icy landscapes of Vatnajökul National Park, starting with the ethereal Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon where icebergs calve from the glacier edge and drift toward the sea, and the nearby Diamond Beach where sparkling ice fragments scatter across black sands. Continue to Skaftafell Nature Reserve for a scenic hike, weather allowing, to Svartifoss waterfall, its dark lava columns creating a spectacular backdrop. Another evening brings more opportunities to chase the aurora borealis.
Follow the south coast back toward Selfoss, visiting two of Iceland’s most celebrated waterfalls. Walk behind the shimmering curtain of Seljalandsfoss for a unique perspective, then feel the spray of the equally impressive Skógafoss, plunging 60 metres into a mossy gorge. Discover Icelandic heritage at the Skógar Folk Museum before continuing to Dverghamrar, the “Dwarf Cliffs,” where perfectly formed hexagonal basalt columns fuel legends of elves and hidden people. Overnight at the welcoming Landhotel near Selfoss.
Embark on a full-day Golden Circle tour, starting at Gullfoss, the mighty “Golden Falls,” where the Hvítá River surges into a deep canyon in two dramatic tiers. Watch the Strokkur geyser erupt in the geothermal fields of Geysir, and stroll through Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart. Conclude the day at Frioheimar geothermal farm to sample traditional Icelandic rye bread baked in the earth’s natural heat and learn about the country’s unique greenhouse cultivation and horse-breeding practices.
Drive through the geothermal area of Hveragerði to Reykjavik for a guided city tour highlighting the striking Hallgrímskirkja Church, the modern Harpa Concert Hall and the colourful Old Harbour. The afternoon is free to explore the city at your own pace or join an optional excursion to the famous Blue Lagoon, where warm, mineral-rich waters provide a soothing soak amid a surreal lava-field setting. Spend your final night back at the Fosshotel Reykjavik.
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Keflavik Airport for your homeward flight, carrying with you unforgettable memories of glaciers, geysers, waterfalls and—if you’re lucky—the shimmering Northern Lights.
