Upon arrival in Nyingchi, a picturesque region often referred to as the “Switzerland of Tibet,” you will be warmly greeted by your local guide at the airport. You will then be transferred to your hotel, enjoying your first glimpses of Tibet’s lush valleys, forested mountains, and fresh alpine air. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude, ensuring a comfortable start to your journey.
After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Basong Tso (approximately 180 km / 3 hours), one of Tibet’s most stunning highland lakes. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and dense forests, the lake’s turquoise waters create a postcard-perfect setting. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the area with a relaxing boat ride across the lake.
You will visit the charming Tsodzong Monastery, perched on a small island and belonging to the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Later, enjoy a gentle forest hike (approx. 1 km / 1 hour), breathing in the crisp mountain air.
In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk through Cuogao Ancient Village, a traditional Kongpo Tibetan settlement rich in heritage. Here, you will observe local lifestyles, admire rustic stone-and-wood houses, and sample regional delicacies such as butter tea, tsampa, and yak meat.
After breakfast, set out on a guided hike to Xin Tso, a hidden gem nestled amidst pristine wilderness. The trail is easy and well-maintained, making it suitable for all travelers. As you walk through serene forests and open landscapes, you will be rewarded with views of the tranquil lake framed by distant snow-capped peaks.
Xin Tso offers a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for photography and quiet reflection. After spending time soaking in the scenery, return to Basong Tso. The afternoon is at leisure—relax by the lakeside, explore nearby trails, or simply enjoy the calm surroundings.
Following breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at your hotel, taking in the last views of Basong Tso’s natural beauty. Later, depart by road for Lhasa, the spiritual and cultural heart of Tibet. The journey offers scenic landscapes with changing terrain, from forested valleys to more arid highland views.

After breakfast, begin your exploration of Lhasa’s rich cultural heritage. Visit Norbulingka, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama, set within beautifully landscaped gardens that reflect a blend of Tibetan and inland Chinese styles.
Continue to the Tibet Museum, where you can admire an impressive collection of historical artifacts, including ancient Thangka paintings crafted with natural mineral pigments.
Later, explore Sera Monastery, one of Tibet’s most important monasteries. Here, you may witness the fascinating monk debate sessions (held Monday to Friday afternoons), where monks engage in lively philosophical discussions—a unique cultural experience.
Today is dedicated to Tibet’s most iconic landmarks. Begin with a visit to the magnificent Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama. This architectural marvel, built over 1,300 years ago, houses sacred relics, intricate murals, and historic treasures. Please note that visits are time-restricted to approximately one hour.
Afterward, join local pilgrims in walking the sacred Kora route around the palace, offering insight into Tibetan spiritual practices.
Continue to Barkhor Square, a lively market area filled with shops, prayer wheels, and pilgrims. Later, visit the revered Jokhang Temple, considered the holiest temple in Tibetan Buddhism, where devotees gather in deep reverence.
