You will arrive at Chennai International Airport, and from there, you’ll drive to Mahabalipuram (also known as Mamallapuram), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mahabalipuram is famous for its ancient temples and rich history, dating back to the 7th century. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at your beach resort, where you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the beach. This will give you the opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate after your journey. After a peaceful day, you’ll have a delightful dinner at the resort and stay overnight.
After breakfast, you will explore the key sights in Mahabalipuram. The Shore Temple, an architectural marvel built in the 7th century, is one of the main attractions. Other fascinating sights include Arjuna’s Penance, a massive rock relief, and the Pancha Rathas, five monolithic temples. After touring the historical landmarks, you’ll proceed to Pondicherry, which is a short two-hour drive away. You’ll visit the Meenakshi Temple, an architectural gem dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi, and the Tirumala Nayak Palace, an Indo-Saracenic style palace with magnificent domes and arches. Later, you will head to the Gandhi Memorial Museum, housed in the historic Tamukkam Palace, to learn about the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
